Weta Workshop has produced over fifteen thousand museum quality weapons for projects within the creative industries of film, gaming and replica collectibles, including Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings Trilogy, King Kong, Peter Weir's Master and Commander, Edward Zwick's The Last Samurai , Andrew Adamson's Chronicles of Narnia, Guillermo del Toro's Hell Boy, Stephen Spielberg's Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, the Microsoft Halo 3 short films and, more recently, James Cameron's Avatar (in production) and Neill Blomkamp's District 9 (in production).

With an in-house Master Swordsmith, sophisticated digitally driven rapid prototyping equipment and a team of craftspeople capable of producing all variety of weapons from any era, Weta Workshop can produce hero one-off items or large numbers of background weapons. Guided by the creative hand of Richard Taylor, Workshop Supervisor Gareth McGhie and Props Supervisor John Harvey, the weapons team is dedicated to producing dramatic, authentic and practical weaponry of the highest quality for any kind of creative team and for any genre - to budget and to deadline - be they swords, bows, quivers, spears, axes, shields, guns, sci-fi or fantastical weaponry, grenades, or other replica military weapons. Swords can be produced with live blades for full contact fighting, light aluminum blades for close up actor stunt work and stunt-friendly urethane compound weapons for large-scale battle action.

Weta Workshop also guides clients through the realities and benefits of using weapons, offering experience and advice on the most appropriate ways to utilize them within their film or project.
