Weta Workshop Crafts Tech Suits for The Wandering Earth

Hailed as “China’s first full-scale interstellar spectacular” (The Hollywood Reporter), The Wandering Earth has launched in cinemas worldwide. Directed by Frant Gwo, the film adapts Hugo Award-winning author Liu Cixin’s story about a desperate mission to save a doomed Earth. To prepare for lift-off, New Zealand’s Weta Workshop manufactured a series of suits equipped with highly technical exoskeletons, domed helmets, and specialty backpacks.

The latest film in the Marvel universe is not just a smashing success. It has Kiwi blood running through its veins. Wellington’s Weta Workshop manufactured hyper-stylised armour and weapons for the film, including super cool helmets for Thor (played by Chris Hemsworth), the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), and even a costume for the film’s director, fellow New Zealander Taika Waititi.
