She’ll keep you safe. Or will she? Following its debut at the Sundance Film Festival in January, sci-fi thriller I Am Mother has come to Netflix. Directed by Grant Sputore, with screenplay by Michael Lloyd Green, the film tells the story of a robot (“Mother”) designed to repopulate the earth after the extinction of humankind. Mother is performed by an actor wearing a complex specialty suit, designed and built by the award-winning concept design and manufacturing facility, New Zealand’s Weta Workshop.
A sci-fi showdown of monstrous proportions, Legendary’s latest blockbuster, Pacific Rim Uprising, has landed in cinemas, featuring creature design and sci-fi suits by New Zealand’s Weta Workshop. Under one roof in Weta Workshop’s facility on Wellington’s Miramar Peninsula, the Workshop crew produced designs for the Kaiju monsters, fabricated a series of highly technical suits, and joined the production team on set in Sydney, Australia.
