The New Zealand Government offers a series of incentives for both domestic and international film and television productions.

Post, digital and visual effects grant

If the client's deliverables will be used as on-set visual effects aids or will be photographed/scanned to build digital versions for visual effects, then they may qualify for the PDV Grant.

A PDV production must have QNZPE (Qualifying New Zealand Producer Expenditure) of $500,000 or more. 

The grant aims to foster capacity and new business development for large budget PDV production in New Zealand. Eligible productions can access a cash grant equivalent to 20% of QNZPE with a 5% uplift available for a smaller number of productions that can demonstrate significant economic benefits to New Zealand. Click here for more information.

 

NZ Screen production grant - international

The international grant aims to encourage large budget productions to film in New Zealand. The purpose of the New Zealand Screen Production Grant (NZSPG) for international productions is to provide a financial incentive for the production of foreign and domestic large budget films, television and other format productions in New Zealand. The international grant includes the PDV grant scheme. The purpose of the PDV Grant is to specifically foster capacity and new business development for large budget PDV Productions in New Zealand.

International productions may access a cash grant of 20% of QNZPE. A smaller number of productions may be able to access a 5% Uplift if they can demonstrate significant economic benefits to New Zealand. Click here for more information.
