Your ticket gives you access to both of our experiences - Wētā Workshop Experiences in Wellington and Wētā Workshop Unleashed in Auckland.  

You can book your tour times separately for each location at dates and times that suit your travel plans. There’s no need to visit both on the same day! 

Please note that Auckland and Wellington are approximately 650 km apart – that's about an 8-hour drive or a 1-hour flight. We recommend planning your visit to each city to make the most of your adventure.  

If you only visit one, you're only getting half the story!

Wellington, where it all began

Auckland, the wild side of creativity 

At Wētā Workshop Unleashed, dive headfirst into our most out-there ideas! Touch, play, explore and marvel at mind-blowing effects in a wildly immersive and interactive journey through our ultimate movie adventure.

Your ticket is valid for 12 months from the date of purchase. You can visit each location at any time within that period, giving the flexibility to plan your journey when it suits you best.

Our tours are currently offered in English and Mandarin, with translated tours also available on our app in French, German and Japanese. Download the ​​app in store on arrival or ask our team for assistance.

As for Klingon, Elvish, or Na'vi—we're working on it. Stay tuned for future updates as we aim to cater to speakers from every realm.

Auckland

Absolutely! Though just a heads up–some of our experience is horror themed and parental guidance is advised for younger children. Guests have the option to skip the 'horror house' within our horror workshop if they wish.

Wellington

Yes—children love the magic of movies! Though just a heads up–some images on our tour do showcase horror films. 

Please arrive 10 minutes before your tour starts. You can check in at the Wētā Cave ticketing desk. 

Auckland

Yes! Photography is welcomed at Wētā Workshop Unleashed. There’s also the opportunity to receive a free video within the tour space, so you’ll be able to take home a fun memory of your experience.

Wellington

Yes and no! Your guide will let you know when you can use your camera. There are certain rooms of our tour space where photography is permitted, however there are some rooms where we ask for you to not take photographs. Wētā Workshop is an active workshop and photography is strictly prohibited in certain areas due to production requirements.

Our tours from 1 Weka Street do give you an exclusive look into the workshop through multiple viewing windows, getting you as close to the magic as possible!
