event
Meet our makers! At our exclusive events, step into our cinema in the heart of Wētā Workshop, as two of our costume technicians reveal how a hobby grew into a career and how the skills behind blockbuster films can begin at your own kitchen table.
Every maker starts somewhere. For Wētā Workshop technicians Cassandra Lopez and Sanit Klamchanuan, it began with cardboard, glue and a love of making things. Hear how they first met building armour in the Workshop, then teamed up to bring fearsome creatures to life for blockbuster movies. Today they channel those same skills into their own cosplay, cardboard and jewellery, and into teaching the next generation of makers.
Enjoy an intimate 90-minute event in our cinema, a treat for World of WearableArt (WOW) fans and makers alike, with questions welcome throughout. You'll have the chance to meet Sanit and Cass at the craft table, an exclusive chance to view their work up close and continue the conversation one-on-one.
Costume enthusiasts, cosplayers, crafters and curious first-timers, this one is for you. In town for the show? It is the perfect way to make more of your trip to Wellington.
