Wētā Workshop
Wētā Workshop is one of the largest multidisciplinary creative service companies in the world. We design and manufacture for the film, television, immersive experience and creative industries, develop video games in our game studio, make premium consumer products, and share our creativity with the world through our tourist attractions in Auckland and Wellington.
The Roxy Cinema
The Roxy Cinema is a beautifully designed Art Deco theatre, arts venue, events space, cafe and restaurant located a stone’s throw away from Wētā Workshop. Originally opening in 1911 as The Capital Theatre before being converted into a retail destination in the 1960s, the Miramar movie theatre was lovingly restored and reopened its doors 15 years ago, with Sir Ian McKellen graciously cutting the ribbon. Many of the interior features were made here at Wētā Workshop, including the bronze fish door handles, interior sculptures and expansive ceiling mural.
Pūkeko Pictures
Pūkeko Pictures is an independent entertainment production house with a focus on live-action and animated film and television shows, games and picture books. Its popular children’s television show The WotWots, starring two fluffy aliens — blue, pink and puppet-like — who visit Earth to learn about our planet’s diverse animal world, has aired in over 130 countries since its debut.
Wētā FX
Wētā FX specialises in digital effects and computer-generated imagery (CGI), including animation, motion capture, crowd generation, modelling, compositing, and film scanning and recording. Though Wētā Workshop and Wētā FX share the name “Wētā” and often work very closely together, we are two separate companies who operate independently of each other.
Park Road Post Production
Park Road Post Production offers post-production services that span sound and picture finishing, restoration and the development of digital workflows. Delivering post-production to filmmakers all over the world, Park Road Post Production completes the end-to-end filmmaking experience.
Stone Street Studios
With four purpose-built stages, including a 24,500-square-foot sound stage, Stone Street Studios has hosted films including The Hobbit trilogy, King Kong and Avatar. Supporting the stages are offices for production, art departments, wardrobe, makeup and more.
Portsmouth Rentals
Film equipment hire is available on the Peninsula from our friends at Portsmouth Rentals. Specialising in lighting, distribution and RED camera equipment hire for film and television production, Portsmouth Rentals carries a diverse range of equipment for projects of any scale.
